Luminary - Mary Cassatt Lilacs

A beautiful floral arrangement of purple and white lilacs are depicted on this set of luminary lanterns. Lilacs in a Window, Mary Cassatt, ca. 1880–83, Oil on canvas, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York was one of the few still life paintings that Impressionist artist, Mary Cassatt painted. Her career began at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, but she felt restricted by the many rules and restrictions given to female artists at the time. The American-born artist traveled abroad to Paris and met Edgar Degas who introduced her to Impressionism.
