Origami Lantern - Cherry Blossom

The cherry blossom symbolizes new life and renewal. America was introduced to these gorgeous pink blooms in 1885. Writer and photographer, Eliza Scidmore returned from Japan and was passionate about creating a campaign to plant cherry trees by the Potomac River near The Capital. Her efforts paid off and in 1912, Japan generously gifted over 3000 trees in a kind gesture of friendship to the American people.
