German Artist, Jacob Marrel (1613-1681) was a still-life painter and tulip dealer active in Utrecht during the Dutch Golden Age. The beautiful blooms featured on this vase came from one of six tulip books he created during Tulipomania, a period when the Dutch went mad for tulips, so crazy that trading a single rare tulip could be worth as much as the purchase price of a mansion! Consequently, this didn't last very long as the market crashed in 1637. However, the Netherlands continue that pride and are the largest producer of tulips worldwide.
Dimensions : Box is 4.75" x 4.75" x 8.5" | Lantern is adjustable up to 8.25" Tall x 4.75" wide
