Get lost while you look at this amazing glass art piece. Inspired by the ever changing seascape, there are different details that come into focus each time it is looked at.

Created entirely by Kansas glass artist Scott Garrelts of Garrelts Glass. He starts off by creating many of his colored glass from raw materials. "By creating my own colors I'm able to come up with some colors that may not be available to the rest of the glass world." After creating his glass, Garrelts begins a unique dance of sorts. The glass starts at 2000 degrees and has to stay above 1000 degrees until it is finished or the glass will crack. The process begins with Garrelts using a thousand year old technique called caneworking which involves arranging thin rods of colored glass and creating a pattern.  Murrini and latticinio cane elements are pulled, twisted and intertwined to form the design. Dichroic glass adds a bit of a glitter effect and and the small bubble texture is reminiscent of sea bubbles. Once those elements are applied and melted in, more layers of clear glass are used to encase the colors over the blue background. After the layers are on, Garrelts shapes the piece using the same kinds of wooden paddles and metal tools that Roman artists first used, connecting this artist and his work to an ancient historical tradition.

Dimensions : Approximately 6" Tall x 4.7" Wide x 3" Deep
