During the 1900's, Louis C. Tiffany (1848-1933) used the dragonfly in many of his stained glass designs. Specifically in the Lamp Screen, Dragonfly shape, c.1910. The intricate lace design of the wings are depicted on this bookmark. The bright blue dragonfly with it's red head and navy tassel are stand out colors for this bookmark. Made from solid brass and electro-plated with hematite (a black iron mineral), the dragonfly body design is hand enameled.
